Step 1

Prepare the dough

In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.Add the sugar, garlic powder, melted butter, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.Gradually add the salt and flour, half a cup at a time, mixing with the dough hook attachment (or by hand). Continue to knead on low speed for about 10 minutes. Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). After the dough has risen, divide it into 20 equal pieces.Flatten each piece of dough and place a 3/4" cheese chunk in the centre. Pinch the edges of the dough tightly together to seal the cheese inside, forming a ball.Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with a Silpat or parchment paper, seam-side down.Bake in the preheated oven for 11-15 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.Remove the buns from the oven and brush them with melted butter. Sprinkle with oregano, if desired. Serve the stuffed cheese buns warm and enjoy!
