Step 1
Boil the pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions. Reserve ½ cup of the pasta water, then drain the rest and set the pasta aside. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the asparagus pieces and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender but still crisp. Lower the heat to medium-low and pour in the heavy cream.
Step 2
Prepare the creamy sauce
Stir gently. Add the Parmesan and mozzarella cheese gradually, stirring continuously until the cheese melts and forms a creamy sauce. If the sauce becomes too thick, add the reserved pasta water a little at a time to achieve the desired consistency. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss well to coat in the sauce. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Step 3
Garnish with parmesan cheese and enjoy!
Stir in the lemon zest for a fresh, tangy finish. Divide the pasta among serving bowls. Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and a drizzle of olive oil. Serve immediately!
