Carrot Cheese Idli
This idli recipe adds a fun cheesy twist to the traditional South Indian favourite. It’s soft, flavorful, and packed with protein and veggies – a great way to make kids (and adults) love their breakfast.
How to Make
- 1.
Prepare the batter
Place the fermented idli batter in a bowl. Add yoghurt, grated carrots, and a little salt. Mix until smooth.
- 2.
Make it fluffy
Stir in Eno or fruit salt just before steaming. This helps the idlis rise well and stay soft.
- 3.
Steam the idlis
Lightly grease the idli moulds. Spoon in some batter, sprinkle grated Britannia Cheese in the centre, then cover with more batter. Steam for 10–12 minutes, until a skewer comes out clean.
- 4.
Serve warm
Allow the idlis to rest for a minute before removing from the moulds. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with chutney or sambar. Each idli hides a gooey, cheesy centre that melts in your mouth.
