How to Make
- 1.
Get things sizzling
Heat the oil in a non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds. Let them sizzle and pop; they’ll release a lovely, earthy aroma in just a few seconds.
- 2.
Go to the aromatics
Toss in the chopped garlic and onions. Sauté until the onions turn soft and golden, and the garlic smells fragrant and slightly sweet.
- 3.
Add some colour
Stir in the chopped tomatoes along with a pinch of salt. Cook until they soften and start to break down. Then add the bell peppers and let them cook for 2–3 minutes—you want them slightly tender but still vibrant.
- 4.
Spice it up
Now sprinkle in the smoked paprika (or red chilli powder), chilli flakes, and oregano. Stir everything together so the spices coat the veggies nicely. It’ll start smelling like something special now!
- 5.
Time for the lentils
Add your cooked masoor dal to the pan. If it feels a bit thick, add a splash of water to loosen it. Let everything simmer on a low flame for 5–7 minutes so the flavours have time to mingle.
- 6.
Now the cheesy magic
Turn off the heat and gently stir in the Britannia Cheese sachets. The residual warmth will melt the cheese into a smooth, creamy layer that brings the whole dish together.
- 7.
Serve and enjoy
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve warm with rice, tortillas, or even a slice of toasted bread, whatever you’ve got handy. It’s comfort in a bowl.
